About the name

Are you wondering why we have the word ‘Chiesetta’ in our name?

Chiesetta means little church or chapel in Italian, and it’s an integral part of our Trulli. It was decommissioned many years ago and we’ve transformed it into a relaxing sitting room, whilst maintaining some of its original characteristics including the “Cocciopesto floor” dating back to the end of the 19th century.

Did you know that the ‘Trullo’ was initially designed to be a temporary shelter?

Its construction was conceived in order to be dismantled and rebuilt as and when the owners had to move, particularly in times of conflict.

Later on, some structural benefits were discovered, such as its ability to keep cool during the summer, and warm during the winter due to the stone material and cone shape.

History of the Trullo

Anna and her husband are passionate about restoring local Trulli whilst maintaining as much of its original properties as possible.

They have renovated the Trullis working with local manufacturers and artisans to make sure that they capture as many Apulian traditions as possible.
